Job Title:
Supervisor of Operations Job Description The Supervisor of Operations manages the day-to-day activities of a Parts Redistribution Center (PRC), ensuring that all processes and procedures run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This role leads an hourly team, oversees staffing and assignments, and drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational performance. The Supervisor of Operations also partners closely with union counterparts and cross-functional teams to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity while supporting long-term organizational growth. Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the PRC while maintaining strict controls over processes and procedures. Lead an hourly workforce in daily operations, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback. Oversee all staffing matters, including attendance, vacation scheduling, daily job assignments, and coverage planning. Develop and implement projects that improve operating metrics, enhance efficiency, and reduce budgeted expenses. Build and maintain strong working relationships with UAW counterparts to support effective collaboration and issue resolution. Implement and reinforce a Continuous Improvement culture among hourly staff, encouraging ideas and initiatives that enhance operations. Develop, lead, and monitor safety initiatives to promote a safe working environment for all employees. Actively participate in building a safety culture that maintains a zero-incident mindset across all shifts and functions. Proactively address safety concerns in an expedient manner, ensuring timely corrective actions and communication. Collaborate with salaried and hourly teams to improve safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures. Maintain and develop strong quality procedures to ensure the facility operates at the highest levels of quality and reliability. Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. Communicate operational priorities and expectations clearly to team members and stakeholders. Support change initiatives related to organizational redesign, new processes, and new model launches within the PRC. Essential Skills Completed 4-year degree or strong progress toward a 4-year degree, with willingness to pursue and complete the degree. Demonstrated leadership capability with proven examples of leading teams or operations in previous roles. Strong ability to manage day-to-day operations in a warehousing, logistics, or similar environment. Experience overseeing staffing activities such as attendance, vacation planning, and daily work assignments. Proven ability to develop and implement projects that improve operational performance and reduce costs. Capability to build strong working relationships with union counterparts and cross-functional teams. Commitment to Continuous Improvement and experience implementing process improvements. Strong focus on safety, with experience leading or supporting safety initiatives and promoting a zero-incident mindset. Ability to maintain and enhance quality procedures to ensure high levels of operational performance. Willingness to work their way up within a company and grow into increasing levels of responsibility. Effective communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction and feedback to hourly staff. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address issues proactively and efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in criminal justice, law enforcement, or the military is highly preferred. Experience working in large warehousing or distribution environments, particularly those handling aftermarket parts. Familiarity with union environments and experience collaborating with union representatives. Exposure to Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools in an operational setting. Interest in long-term career growth within a large, complex organization. Comfort working in a facility that includes sheet metal operations, standard warehousing, and dock operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large Parts Redistribution Center (PRC) warehousing facility where aftermarket parts are received, stored, and shipped to dealerships across the country. The facility includes a sheet metal operation, a standard warehousing operation, and a dock operation that interfaces with all parts of the facility for incoming and outgoing parts. The environment is fast-paced and highly focused on safety, with safety being the number one priority. Safety vests and safety glasses are worn at all times while on the warehousing floor. You will work closely with both salaried and hourly teams in an industrial setting that emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines, operational discipline, and continuous improvement. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.56 - $25.56/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
