Overview The position schedule is three 12-hour shifts weekly, with the shift time of 6:45P to 7:15A. The weekend requirement is currently every third weekend (subject to change). Be inspired. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Respiratory Supervisor assumes an active leadership role under the direction of the department director, assistant director, and manager, in the development of Respiratory Care Services. Participates in departmental budget by continually monitoring and adjusting staffing to meet workload requirements; generates and analyzes productivity workload reports to justify staffing adjustments. The Respiratory Supervisor ensures that all staff are competency verified and supports the delivery of high-quality care. Demonstrates mastery in the knowledge and skills of their specialized designated area of practices. Works collaboratively as a member of the department leadership team, taking a proactive role to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department. Maintains knowledge and competency skills that are appropriate to the assigned patient demographics (i.e., neonates, infants, pediatric patients, adults). Manages workflow and appropriate staffing levels through scheduling, delegation, supervision, and resource management.

Patient Care Support
  • Communicates effectively with staff, nurses, physicians, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Functions as a competent Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide advanced respiratory care to patients of all ages
  • Develops a professional working relationship and promotes teamwork among members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Advances evidence-based practice, leads department and service area initiatives, and mentors others to grow professionally
  • Ensures operating efficiencies and the provision of quality services for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Identifies patient care issues, acts towards a resolution, service recovery, and communicates with the service leaders as appropriate
  • Responsible for supporting departmental and services area quality Improvement activities
  • Participates as a super user for annual skill sessions and ongoing staff education
  • Assists with hospital wide respiratory research initiatives.
Leadership
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technology to promote communication, safety concerns, and documentation of care (EPIC, BCMA, email, websites, patient database).
  • Develops and implements action plans to achieve departmental goals that align with department senior leadership and EHC's vision
  • Advances evidence-based practice, leads department and service area initiatives, and mentors others to grow professionally
  • Assists in annual education competency planning in addition to the revision and development of policies & procedures
  • Assists in the education of other health care providers beyond departmental education
  • Serves as a lead RCP champion over a project and assists leadership team
  • Seeks involvement with interdisciplinary collaborative committees.

  • Provides Patient and Family Centered Care
  • Completes employee performance evaluations in a timely manner
  • Counsels, coaches and issues progressive disciplinary actions as warranted in collaboration with departmental leadership

  • Regularly attends meetings and in-services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care or related science required.
Experience:
5 years or greater with at least two years in a charge or supervisory role in a respiratory care departmentLicensure /
Certification:
Currently licensed as an active Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Georgia. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Active membership in American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC)BLS & ACLSPREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master's in Respiratory Care or related science preferredLicensure /
Certification:
ACCS for Adult Critical Care, NRP for Neonatal Critical Care, AE-C & CPFT/RPFT certification highly preferred depending on the supervisor's clinical specialty.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
