Full-time Description:
The Supervisor of Woodshop is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the woodshop department within the Jonathan Louis Mississippi manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with Production Leadership to ensure production schedules, quality standards, staffing, safety, and operational goals are achieved. The Woodshop Supervisor is accountable for driving productivity, maintaining workflow efficiency, supporting employee development, and ensuring woodshop operations consistently support downstream production needs. Job Responsibilities Responsible for overseeing daily woodshop production activities to ensure schedules and operational goals are achieved Coordinate with Production, Scheduling, Upholstery, Inventory Management, Maintenance, and other department leaders to maintain smooth production flow Monitor department productivity, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency Ensure wood frames and components are built according to Jonathan Louis' quality standards and approved specifications Train, coach, and develop woodshop employees on safety, quality, equipment usage, and production expectations Monitor employee attendance, staffing levels, vacation requests, and department coverage needs Support onboarding and training of new employees Assist leadership with establishing department goals, production expectations, and process improvement initiatives Help identify and resolve production issues, equipment concerns, material shortages, workflow bottlenecks, or quality issues Ensure proper material usage and inventory control of wood, hardware, glue, and related production materials Monitor saws, staple equipment, pneumatic tools, and other production equipment to ensure safe operation and coordinate maintenance needs Maintain accurate employee timecards, production reporting, and department documentation Promote a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement Support implementation of safety initiatives and ensure employees follow all company safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the woodshop department Work closely with leadership during startup, training, and operational ramp-up activities Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and operational needs
Requirements:
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, wood products, furniture production, or related production environments preferred Knowledge of woodshop operations, frame construction, woodworking equipment, and production flow preferred Strong leadership, communication, and employee coaching skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability Ability to read and understand production schedules and operational reports Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and customer expectations Experience with manufacturing systems, production reporting, or ERP systems preferred Bilingual in Spanish is preferred High School Diploma or equivalent required Ability to stand and walk throughout the production floor for extended periods Ability to bend, lift, push, and move materials throughout the workday as needed Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust, wood particles, and production activity Ability to occasionally lift materials or products within company-established limits
