Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Supply Chain Operations Specialist to join our client's team and drive excellence across their supply chain processes. This role will support production planning, inventory management, and logistics coordination across internal manufacturing and tenant-related operations, including development and startup efforts. The ideal candidate will work within existing processes, help bring structure where needed, and ensure continuity of operations. Responsibilities also include supporting freight execution, carrier coordination, and fleet planning, while providing data and insights to assist leadership with freight sourcing and operational decisions. The ideal candidate comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with evolving processes and systems, and can effectively coordinate with Customer Service, Operations, Procurement, and external stakeholders. • This is a temp to perm opportunity based on job performance and company needs. Responsibilities Lead production planning deliverables for assigned business areas in coordination with company or tenant company stakeholders Translate demand signals into production and inventory plans Balance production schedules with capacity, inventory targets, and customer requirements Monitor and manage inventory levels against min/max and safety stock targets Identify risks to supply, inventory imbalances, or service disruptions and take corrective action Drive alignment between planning, operations, and customer commitments Maintain accurate inventory visibility across plant and warehouse locations Monitor inventory aging, excess/slow-moving materials, and working capital impacts Support inventory reconciliation and accuracy efforts Ensure planning outputs align with inventory strategy and business requirements Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments (truck, rail, and marine where applicable) Work with Customer Service, carriers, and warehouse teams to ensure on-time execution Support freight routing and carrier coordination in alignment with defined processes Track shipments and proactively resolve service issues or delays Maintain day-to-day carrier relationships and communication Monitor freight performance (service, cost, accessorials) and escalate issues as needed Support the Director in freight rate negotiations by preparing lane data, cost analysis, and carrier performance insights Ensure alignment between production plans and logistics execution Experience Proven experience in supply chain management or logistics roles with a strong understanding of warehouse distribution, inventory control, procurement, and transportation management systems. Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives using analysis skills and tools like Tableau or SQL for data collection and reporting. Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms (such as SAP or AS400), and demand planning software. Familiarity with freight forwarding, 3PL coordination, shipping & receiving procedures, and category management practices. Strong negotiation skills coupled with vendor management expertise to optimize sourcing strategies and contractual agreements. Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment such as forklifts is preferred but not required. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis on supply chain issues quickly and effectively. Required Qualifications 5-10 years of experience in supply chain, production planning, logistics, or operations Demonstrated ownership of production planning in a manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of inventory management and supply/demand balancing Experience coordinating logistics across multiple modes (truck, rail, etc.) Proficiency in ERP systems (AX, SAP, or similar) Strong Excel skills for planning, tracking, and analysis Ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with ability to work across internal teams, customers, and external partners Preferred Qualifications Experience in chemical or industrial manufacturing Experience supporting new operations or startup environments Familiarity with PI systems and transportation tools (e.g., Visiship) Exposure to both plant operations and customer-facing supply chain roles Join our client as a Supply Chain Operations Specialist if you're ready to elevate our logistics processes through innovative thinking, strategic sourcing, data-driven insights, and collaborative teamwork!
Pay:
