Surgery Scheduler

Job Description:

Responsible for registering and scheduling patients at Intermountain Health facilities system-wide, ensuring that processes and procedures exceed customer expectations. Acts as a liaison between the provider's office and facility. Essential Functions Maintains the surgery schedule, providing necessary information to patients and providers Conducts patient pre-certification for insurance approval for appointments and medical care Coordinates and ensures necessary equipment is ordered, room availability, pre-surgery medication is arranged prior to scheduled procedure Communicates detailed information and answers patient's questions regarding surgery preparation instructions arrival/departure instructions Schedules any necessary follow up appointments as directed by provider Performs other duties as assigned Skills Patient Registration Medical Data Entry Patient Care Insurance Claims Processing Health Care Health Screenings Health Insurance Patient Account Management Patient Financial Services Patient Scheduling Medical Records Management Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated experience in a health care organization Preferred Qualifications Two years of related experience in a health care organization is preferred Experience with Electronic health record Experience with insurance companies Experience with scheduling Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
