We are seeking an experienced and driven Licensed Land Surveyor to lead and oversee surveying operations at our Manhattan, Illinois office. This role is responsible for managing survey projects from initial planning through final delivery while supervising and mentoring both field and office staff. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on field involvement with office-based project management and technical oversight. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will support a wide range of surveying and engineering projects, helping clients achieve successful outcomes through accurate, high-quality survey services. Manage and coordinate multiple survey crews and office staff to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within scope, schedule, and budget. Lead survey projects from proposal development through project close-out while maintaining strong client relationships and delivering exceptional service. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop survey scopes, schedules, and budgets, and provide technical surveying guidance throughout project execution. Ensure all survey deliverables meet or exceed professional standards, client expectations, and industry requirements. Prepare and review detailed surveys, legal descriptions, plats, and exhibit drawings with a high degree of accuracy and technical competency. Oversee construction layout and control activities, ensuring proper calculation, staking, plotting, and labeling of control points and markers. Manage the evaluation, procurement, and maintenance of survey equipment and supplies in coordination with the Director of Surveying. Support business development efforts by building relationships with developers, municipalities, attorneys, realtors, utilities, and industrial clients. Train, mentor, and develop survey technicians and field crews to promote continuous improvement and professional growth.Qualifications:
Associate degree in Surveying or a related bachelor's degree preferred. Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Illinois. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for survey drafting, plat production, and analysis. Ability to operate company vehicles and perform physically demanding fieldwork as needed.Preferred Skills & Experience:
Working knowledge of Trimble RTK GPS systems, robotic total stations, and data collectors. Strong understanding of coordinate geometry and boundary analysis. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor. Experience scheduling, supervising, managing, and training survey crews. Strong research and analytical skills related to survey data and records. Proven ability to manage project deliverables and maintain project schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Career Growth Opportunities:
