Job Description

  • Job Title:
    Swiss Machinist
  • The Swiss Machinist operates and monitors CNC Swiss machines to produce high‑precision orthopedic components, primarily bone screws, using materials such as titanium, stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and PEEK.
This role focuses on maintaining tight tolerances, performing in‑process quality checks, and making necessary adjustments to tools and offsets to ensure consistent, high‑quality parts in a clean, modern medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Operate and run CNC Swiss machines, including models such as Tsugami Bx, BH Turret, and 327 laser Swiss, to produce orthopedic components including bone screws.
+ Set up and monitor production runs to ensure parts remain within specified tolerances throughout the machining process. + Work primarily with titanium and also with stainless steel, cobalt chrome, PEEK, and other medical‑grade materials as required. + Perform tool changes and adjust machine offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality. + Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to understand part specifications and machining requirements. + Use G and M codes to operate and adjust CNC Swiss programs as needed within defined parameters. + Inspect and check own parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall quality. + Deburr parts to meet quality and cosmetic standards before moving them to the next operation or inspection stage. + Follow established quality procedures in alignment with
ISO 9001
2008 and
ISO:
2003 certified processes. + Collaborate with team members on the shift to troubleshoot issues, learn machine capabilities, and continuously improve processes. + Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to shop safety and housekeeping standards. + Document production information and inspection results accurately as required by company procedures.
  • Essential Skills
  • + At least 2 years of recent experience operating and running CNC Swiss machines.
+ Hands‑on experience with CNC Swiss equipment, preferably including Tsugami machines. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. + Proficiency in operating CNC Swiss machines and understanding basic G and M codes. + Experience performing tool changes and adjusting machine offsets to maintain tolerances. + Practical skills in deburring and finishing machined components. + Experience performing in‑process quality inspection and checking own parts. + Familiarity with machining medical or precision components, or the ability to quickly adapt to tight tolerance work. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality, precise parts.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience working with medical device components or orthopedic products is a plus.
+ Background in machining materials such as titanium, stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and PEEK is beneficial. + Familiarity with
ISO 9001
2008 and

2003 quality standards in a manufacturing environment. + Comfort working with newer CNC equipment and automation technologies. + Ability to collaborate with a supportive team and seek assistance when learning new machines.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $72000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
