This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing network infrastructure and subscriber equipment to ensure reliable service delivery. Working in both field and customer-facing environments, the System Technician utilizes technical expertise in fiber optics, coaxial systems, and broadband technologies to diagnose issues, maintain system performance, and resolve service interruptions. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical proficiency with testing equipment, and the ability to operate independently while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of working in a dynamic environment that may include on-call support, varied schedules, and rapidly changing priorities. Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadband CATV and Internet systems to ensure reliable service delivery Install, configure, and upgrade subscriber equipment, including cable modems, set-top boxes, and networking devices Diagnose and resolve service issues related to RF signals, fiber optics, and distribution plant infrastructure Perform signal testing, sweeping, balancing, and system adjustments to maintain optimal performance Test trunk lines, power supplies, and distribution systems using industry-standard tools and meters Monitor and repair system leakage and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards Install and maintain drop lines from tap to subscriber premises, including all connected equipment Configure high-speed internet services across various operating systems, browsers, and devices Provide technical support and guidance to customers on proper use of services and equipment Complete service orders such as connects, disconnects, upgrades, and relocations efficiently and accurately Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in proper working condition Document all work performed and submit required reports in a timely manner Adhere to all safety standards and regulations, including TOSHA, FCC, and NEC requirements Participate in on-call rotations and respond to service outages or emergencies as needed Attend team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development opportunities Follow all company policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements Perform additional duties as assigned by management Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with broadband cable systems, including amplifiers, line extenders, and passive network components At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in cable distribution system maintenance, including splicing and repair of coaxial and/or fiber lines Minimum of three (3) years of experience in plant operations, system performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure Proven experience in resolving subscriber service issues, including installation, diagnostics, and repair of CATV and high-speed internet services Experience working with fiber optic systems, including basic troubleshooting and understanding of optical network components preferred Familiarity with industry-standard test equipment (signal level meters, volt-ohm meters, TDRs, spectrum analyzers) Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in both field and customer environments Experience working in a customer-facing role, providing technical support and maintaining professional interaction with diverse customers Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
