Systems and Infrastructure Administrator - Contract

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.

Overview:

Provides understanding of technical systems, including networks, employee devices, policies, overall capability, availability, and reliability. Provides lead analysis for short and long-term architecture for systems, applications, platforms and infrastructure build out. Ensures appropriate and timely procurement, installation and life-cycle maintenance of IT hardware and software (includes PCs, peripherals, servers, networking equipment, operating systems and other software). Works closely with Systems/Security Admin and Director of Information Technology on final solutions.

Responsibilities:

Serves as primary point of contact with server and network hardware and associated software vendors specific to systems and infrastructure Assists Systems and Security Admin with security, strategy, and disaster recovery/business continuity planning for all locations of the company Administers, develops, tests, implements, and maintains systems, hardware and any related software. Assists with continual elimination of any risk points that exist with network / infrastructure and associated hardware, software or applications. Troubleshoots and resolves networking problems and associated software/applications/hardware in an expedited approach Collaborates with Systems and Security Admin and Director of Information Technology on various policies specific to: Hardware, Software, Applications and Security Collaborates with Systems and Security Admin and Director of Information Technology and other technical staff on remaining current in the areas of Disaster Recovery specific to the systems and infrastructure Assists with scheduling, performing and monitoring of system / network backups and, when necessary, performs data recoveries. Assists with all equipment, firmware, hardware and software (non-SAP) upgrades Assists in presenting recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and telecommunication equipment. Participate in the on-call support rotation within Information Systems staff Perform other duties as assigned Provide redundancy / overlapping assistance with Systems and Security Admin responsibilities (List of primary / shared responsibilities for this role and Systems and Security Admin)

Associate's Degree in Computer Technology or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology or equivalent preferred Minimum of 5 years experience in management/maintenance of systems / networks and associated software/hardware Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of networks and current software/applications/equipment Comfort level working with support vendors with issue resolution and negotiations of support Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others
