About us: Sheldrake Point Winery is named for the prominent point of land on which it sits, located on the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Operated as an orchard and dairy farm from 1850 to the mid-1980s, the 155-acre lakeshore farm lay fallow until 1997 when a small group of wine enthusiasts organized the purchase of the land and founded the winery. Today, Sheldrake Point Winery continues the agricultural tradition with 60 acres of vineyard planted to 10 vitis vinifera varieties, which are used to make approximately 8,500 cases of estate grown, produced, and bottled table and ice wines. Our Cayuga Lake Tasting Room in Ovid, NY is currently accepting applications for part-time seasonal tasting room service staff. Sheldrake Point Winery is building a hospitality team focused on energy, professionalism, and exceptional guest experiences. Located directly on Cayuga Lake, our winery combines a busy tasting room, lakeside bistro, outdoor bars, private events, and seasonal tourism — creating a fast-moving and highly engaging work environment. We are seeking team members who enjoy being active, working as part of a strong team, and delivering elevated service in a dynamic winery setting. This is not a stationary bar position . Our hospitality associates rotate throughout the property and play an important role wherever guests are being served. About the

Role:

Hospitality Associates support all guest-facing areas of the winery including the tasting room, Point of Flavor Bistro, outdoor service spaces, and events. Successful candidates understand that great hospitality requires teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to move confidently during busy service periods. Our busiest days bring large volumes of guests enjoying the lake, wine, and dining experience — and our team works together to keep service smooth and welcoming. Responsibilities Deliver warm, professional hospitality to winery and bistro guests Provide table service within the bistro and outdoor dining areas Safely carry food and beverage trays during service Rotate between multiple service areas including: Tasting Room Bistro Wait Staff Indoor Bar Support Outdoor and Lakeside Bars Patio and Event Service Assist guests with wine selections and winery experiences (training provided) Support private events and group experiences as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization across service areas Assist teammates during high-volume service periods Follow responsible alcohol service standards What Success Looks Like Here Our strongest team members: Stay engaged and active throughout their shift Step in to help wherever needed Move comfortably in a fast-paced environment Take pride in teamwork and guest experience Understand hospitality extends beyond one assigned station Team members should expect: Rotating positions throughout shifts Extended periods on their feet Indoor and outdoor service responsibilities Busy weekends and seasonal peak tourism $16.50/hr. + tip pool system Qualifications Must be 18 years of age Restaurant, hospitality, winery, or service experience preferred Ability to carry trays and lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize a dolly cart Comfortable multitasking in a high-energy environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Professional and positive attitude Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours Interest in wine, food, and hospitality strongly preferred Previous experience in POS system preferred Must be able to stand for extended periods of time Why Join Sheldrake Point Winery Stunning lakeside work environment Professional hospitality culture Wine education opportunities Growing bistro and events program Opportunities for advancement within the winery We are looking for team members who want to be part of building something special and who take pride in creating memorable experiences for our guests.
