Overview:

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a large North American infrastructure contractor, for a Tax Manager to join a growing corporate finance function. This newly created role has been established in response to organizational growth, increasing structural complexity, and the need to strengthen internal tax capability. The position sits within a developing tax structure and will play a key role in shaping how the tax function evolves over the coming years. While compliance activities remain outsourced, the organization is gradually building more internal capability, creating an opportunity for this individual to influence processes, systems, and long-term tax strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee corporate income tax and direct tax matters across a complex multi-entity business structure. Support tax accounting and provision processes (ASC 740) as the organization moves toward implementing formal tax provision systems. Work closely with external tax providers currently managing compliance while helping define future in-house capabilities. Partner with accounting leaders and operational finance teams to identify tax implications of major business decisions. Identify tax optimization opportunities and cost-saving initiatives across operating entities. Support structural planning across entities and prepare for increased regulatory scrutiny as the organization continues to grow. Contribute to the selection and implementation of future tax provision software. Assist with the future recruitment and development of a Tax Analyst who will report into this position.

Ideal Background & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with approximately 7+ years of relevant tax experience. Strong background in corporate income tax within complex multi-entity organizations. Familiarity with ASC 740 tax accounting and tax provision processes preferred. Experience working within industry environments or closely held business structures rather than solely audit/accounting environments. Professional certifications such as CPA, JD, or Master's in Taxation are desirable. Comfortable working alongside outsourced advisors while gradually bringing capabilities in-house.
