Job Description:
Logansport Intermediate School is seeking a highly effective, student-focused 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher. This educator will play a critical role in advancing literacy achievement through rigorous, standards-based instruction and meaningful relationships with students and families. The ideal candidate embraces collaboration, uses data to inform instruction, and is committed to continuous improvement aligned with district initiatives, including Science of Reading practices and student-centered learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality ELA instruction aligned to Indiana Academic Standards and district curriculum frameworks. Utilize the StudySync curriculum to design engaging, differentiated, and standards-based lessons. Implement evidence-based literacy practices grounded in the Science of Reading, including explicit instruction in comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and language conventions. Analyze student data (Benchmarks and Checkpoints) to drive instructional decisions and targeted interventions. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, ILPs, and English Learners. Create a positive and structured classroom environment aligned with school PBIS expectations. Provide timely, actionable feedback to students, particularly in writing development across multiple genres. Maintain consistent communication with families to support student success and engagement. Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and EL support staff to improve student outcomes. Integrate instructional technology to enhance engagement and learning. Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and district professional development. Supervise students and fulfill assigned duties in support of school operations.
Job Requirements:
7.5 hours per day 185-day contract Must be team-oriented and collaborative within a Professional Learning Community model Self-starter with strong initiative and problem-solving skills Ability to develop and maintain strong rapport with students and families through open, consistent communication Highly organized with strong time management and instructional planning skills Demonstrated data-driven instructional practices Experience with PBIS systems (preferred) Experience with StudySync curriculum (preferred)
Job Qualifications:
Valid Indiana teaching license in K-6 or English Language Arts Strong knowledge of the StudySync curriculum (preferred) Experience with ILEARN administration and data analysis Demonstrated ability to use assessment data to drive instruction and remediation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families Commitment to student-centered instruction and continuous professional growth Salary commensurate with experience and aligned to the LCSC Teacher Salary Schedule Upon offer, applicant must complete and clear a drug screen and expanded criminal history background check for school personnel as required by IN state law
