Job Description
Position Overview The Capacity Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong carrier relationships to ensure consistent and cost-effective transportation capacity. This role supports brokerage operations, assists account managers, and helps ensure service levels meet customer expectations. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with carriers to secure capacity Coordinate and cover freight efficiently and cost-effectively Ensure all carriers meet company qualification and compliance standards Support Account Managers and internal teams with brokerage needs Assist customers and prospects to ensure high service levels Step in to support brokerage operations as needed Monitor and maintain operational efficiency within company financial guidelines Resolve carrier, driver, and customer issues in a timely and professional manner Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations Maintain strong communication across all departments and partners
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or brokerage Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Basic computer proficiency and ability to manage multiple systems Ability to work in a fast-paced environmentPreferred:
5+ years of experience in transportation or logistics College degree in business or related field Experience in freight brokerage or carrier management Skills & Abilities Strong relationship-building skills Ability to multitask and prioritize workload Attention to detail and strong decision-making ability Effective communication with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams Basic math and reporting skills Work Environment Office-based role within a transportation/logistics setting Requires sitting, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) Frequent communication with drivers, carriers, and internal staff Performance Expectations Maintain strong carrier relationships and satisfaction Ensure efficient freight coverage and operational performance Meet or exceed departmental efficiency and financial goals Contribute to a positive team environment and communication flow Additional Information This position operates as a key support role within brokerage operations and does not have direct supervisory authority but plays a critical role in company performance.
