Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Support the educational journey of students with visual impairments by bringing your expertise and passion for teaching to this rewarding contract opportunity near Palatine, IL. Empower students to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals by providing specialized instruction tailored to each learner's needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain one Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments preferred Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional materials Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, therapists, and families Positive attitude, patience, and a commitment to fostering student independence and confidence
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction to students with visual impairments, both in general education and resource settings Assess student needs, adapt curricular materials, and incorporate technology to ensure accessibility Monitor progress and update IEPs in collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Advocate for students' needs and provide training to staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility Serve as a resource for colleagues and promote awareness on issues impacting visually impaired students In this role, you'll make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners by removing barriers and advocating for accessible education.
