Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity focuses on providing specialized instruction and advocacy as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), working one day per week in a welcoming school environment near Texas City, TX. Desired Qualifications:
Licensed or certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired Experience designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments Ability to assess students' functional vision and adapt curriculum materials appropriately Strong communication and collaboration skills for consulting with staff, families, and related service providers Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction is a plusKey Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative TVI services one day per week during the academic year Develop and track IEP goals tailored to student needs Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt teaching methods and materials Support students in achieving greater independence both in and out of the classroom Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation of services Advocate for necessary accommodations, modifications, and resources This contract position offers professional flexibility and a supportive atmosphere.
