Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact by supporting students as a teacher dedicated to individuals who are visually impaired. This contract opportunity focuses on providing specialized instruction and resources in a dynamic school environment near Arlington Heights, IL. Your expertise will empower students to develop essential academic and life skills, ensuring their inclusion and success in the classroom and beyond.
Key Qualifications:
State teaching certification with an endorsement or credential for teaching students who are visually impaired (TVI) Experience adapting curriculum and materials for visual accessibility Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility techniques Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with school teams and families Flexibility and problem-solving abilities to meet diverse student needs Previous experience working within a school setting is strongly preferredPrimary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's abilities and goals Deliver direct instruction in Braille, adaptive technology, and compensatory skills Assist classroom teachers and support staff in modifying educational materials and environments Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate on accessibility solutions Facilitate communication between families, faculty, and external resources Foster student confidence and independence in academic and daily living tasks This role offers a fulfilling opportunity to utilize your specialized skills and make a meaningful difference for students who are visually impaired.
