Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by supporting their educational journey on a contract basis. Work within a collaborative school setting near New Oxford, PA, where your expertise as a Visually Impaired Teacher will be valued and your impact will be directly felt within the student community.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification Previous experience working with children or students with visual impairments is highly preferred Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired learners Ability to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs Collaborative spirit for working closely with general education staff, families, and related service providers Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Comfortable adapting lessons and materials for optimum accessibility
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEP goals Assess student needs and progress, adjusting teaching strategies as required Consult with classroom teachers to facilitate inclusion and provide necessary modifications Support the use of adaptive equipment and technology to foster students' independence Educate staff and families on best practices for supporting children with visual impairments Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with local policies and regulations
