Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a dedicated educator for individuals with visual impairments. Your expertise will help create accessible and inclusive learning environments, empowering students to achieve academic and social success.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Proven experience working in educational settings supporting students with visual impairments Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille, and tactile learning resources Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Effective communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff Adaptability to meet the varied needs of students across different grade levels Commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students
Key Responsibilities:
Assess students' needs and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility Provide direct instruction using specialized strategies and tools, including Braille, large print, and assistive technology Consult with classroom teachers to modify lessons and support inclusion Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress reports Advocate for necessary services and accommodations Mentor students in orientation and mobility skills and daily living activities as appropriate Engage with families to support student growth both at school and at home Maintain accurate records reflecting students' achievements and needs This contract position offers you the opportunity to make a substantial difference in students' lives while working alongside passionate professionals in a supportive educational community.
