Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments in a contract position spanning the 2026-2027 school year. This engaging opportunity is ideal for a passionate educator ready to collaborate onsite within a supportive educational environment. Flexible full-time or part-time scheduling is available, ensuring a work-life balance while delivering critical services directly to students.
Key Qualifications:
Active Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher license is required Successful completion of Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs) Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, with a strong foundation in adapting curriculum and learning materials Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills when supporting students, families, and educational teams Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and abilities Flexibility to commit to onsite service delivery for the entire duration of the assignment
Primary Responsibilities:
Assess students' unique visual needs and design individualized instructional plans Provide direct instruction in core academic areas, as well as compensatory skills such as Braille, technology, and orientation/mobility (as needed) Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications Advocate for accessible learning material, assistive technology, and inclusive classroom practices Maintain detailed progress documentation and contribute to IEP meetings Serve as a resource for families and school staff regarding strategies for supporting students with visual impairments Experience a rewarding role where your expertise changes students' lives and shapes inclusive learning communities.
