Sep 1, 2026 Job Description Position Overview The Teacher of the Deaf is responsible for providing a comprehensive, student-centered educational program for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans, delivering instruction across academic areas, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support each student's communication, academic, and social development. Key Responsibilities Assess and evaluate student learning needs and develop appropriate instructional plans Design and deliver instruction across assigned academic subjects Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate with related service providers, including speech-language pathologists and audiologists Supervise and support instructional assistants, interns, and volunteers as needed Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and documentation Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and development Participate in team meetings, professional development, and program evaluation activities Utilize appropriate instructional materials and educational technology to enhance learning Support students in inclusive or mainstream settings when applicable Assist with the daily monitoring and management of hearing devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems Develop lesson plans and provide materials for substitute teachers when necessary Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
