Send job Job Details Job DescriptionJob Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. In this contract position, you'll collaborate closely with educators and school staff, providing essential communication access for students and fostering an inclusive learning environment. Your specialized skills will empower students to participate fully in their academic journey.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Experience in a school setting as an ASL Interpreter or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Knowledge of instructional and communication strategies for D/HH students Ability to adapt interpreting style to different classroom subjects and age groups Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Interpretation, or related field preferred Professional certification as an ASL interpreter (such as RID/NIC) highly valued Excellent interpersonal communication and a collaborative work styleKey Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instructions, discussions, and events between staff, students, and peers Support the development of language access plans for individual students Foster student understanding and independence by modeling effective communication strategies Assist teachers with instructional modifications tailored to deaf/hard of hearing learners Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student progress Contribute to a positive, supportive school culture that values inclusion In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in helping students thrive academically and socially, using your expertise to bridge communication gaps and provide educational support.
