Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by serving as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for students across multiple school locations. In this contract role, you'll support learners from Early Childhood through Grade 12, ensuring they thrive both academically and socially. Your expertise will shape a supportive environment that embraces communication, accessibility, and individual growth.
Assignment Highlights:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing Adapt general and specialized curricula to meet diverse learning needs Manage, select, and support the use of assistive technology for communication and learning Facilitate instruction and communication in both sign language and spoken language, as appropriate Work in mainstream and specialized classrooms, promoting smooth integration and inclusion Advocate for accessibility and provide strategies to overcome communication barriers Develop, monitor, and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to promote student progress Travel district-wide to various school sites to support students Support students' social-emotional skills and self-advocacy
Qualifications:
Current certification/license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility) Experience with a wide range of assistive technologies and communication methodologies Strong background in curriculum adaptation and differentiated instruction Proficiency or comfort with American Sign Language and/or spoken language teaching strategies Ability to develop and implement IEPs for students across all grade levels, EC-12 Excellent communication and advocacy skills Flexibility to travel to multiple school sites within the district Take on an impactful, onsite role and help shape the educational journey of students throughout the district.
