Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling contract role supporting students as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher/Hearing Itinerant for the upcoming school year. Work with a diverse range of students from kindergarten through twelfth grade, making a significant impact across multiple educational environments. This full-time opportunity consists of 37.5 hours per week and offers you the chance to advocate for, instruct, and empower students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education, with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement Experience working with DHH students across various grade levels preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school teams Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and ability to adapt to multiple educational settings Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible learning environment that supports individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the main DHH teacher for students assigned to your caseload, delivering required minutes of service each week Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing needs across K-12 settings Travel between school sites as needed to serve students in their educational environments Collaborate with general educators, specialists, and families to ensure progress toward IEP goals Support the development and implementation of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology You'll also enjoy a suite of benefits, including access to insurance options and 401k plans.
