Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by providing essential support and instruction as an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026/2027 school year allows you to work directly with schools—collaborating with dedicated teams and impacting young learners' educational journeys. This position is based near Warden, WA, and is primarily in-person, with openness to hybrid scheduling for an added level of flexibility.
Key Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Valid Washington TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) licensure required. Strong knowledge of current instructional strategies and assistive technology for students with visual impairments. Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired is highly valued. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, students, and families. Ability to travel between multiple school sites as an itinerant educator.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and deliver individualized instruction addressing the unique needs of visually impaired students. Assess students' functional vision and create educational plans in collaboration with IEP teams. Adapt curriculum materials and deliver direct instruction in core and expanded core curriculum areas. Serve as a resource and advocate for students, providing training and support for staff and families. Utilize and guide the implementation of assistive technologies that promote student independence. Maintain accurate records and ongoing documentation in compliance with state standards.
