This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) who are eager to collaborate with educators, families, and students to foster independence and academic achievement. As a vital member of the school community, you will have the chance to travel to multiple locations within the district, providing tailored instruction and resources to meet diverse student needs. Your skills will make a difference every day, shaping accessible learning experiences and supporting students on their educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or a comparable credential Experience delivering individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting Strong knowledge of accessible instructional materials, assistive technology, and Braille Ability to develop and implement IEP goals related to visual impairment Excellent communication and organizational skills Willingness to travel between multiple locations during the assignment
Responsibilities:
Assess student needs and deliver specialized instruction to support academic and functional skills Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families for inclusive education Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate accommodations Assist in the selection and use of assistive technology and accessible materials Participate in IEP meetings and document progress accurately Serve as a resource for staff development on visual impairment strategies You'll work a full-time schedule of 37.5 to 40 hours a week, with your assignment beginning in mid/late August and concluding in late May or early June (exact dates will be confirmed as the school calendar is finalized).
