Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic educational setting near Junction City, OR. This full-time contract opportunity allows you to provide direct instruction and specialized services to students with visual impairments during the 2026-27 school year. As a traveling specialist, you will collaborate with dedicated educators across multiple campuses and help shape individualized plans that ensure academic and personal success for every learner.
Key Qualifications:
Current certification or licensure to teach students with visual impairments Demonstrated experience supporting K-12 students who have varying degrees of visual impairment Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive instructional strategies Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborative skills for working closely with general education teachers, families, and related service providers Excellent communication and organizational abilities Willingness and flexibility to travel between district locations (travel required; no remote or virtual assignments)Responsibilities:
Deliver direct, individualized instruction in academic and compensatory skills (including Braille) Assess students' needs and update progress towards IEP goals Consult with classroom teachers, offering training and resources to ensure accessible learning environments Support students with functional vision assessments and orientation/mobility training as required Maintain timely, thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings Advocate for students' unique needs and provide engaging learning experiences across sites This is a school-based, in-person role with an anticipated start in August and conclusion in May or June, following the academic calendar. The assignment schedule is 37.5 to 40 hours per week, with details and exact assignment locations to be determined.
