Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Deaf/Blind Intervener providing one-on-one support to a 4th-grade student. In this contracted role, you'll work alongside dedicated school staff, empowering a young learner by ensuring access to communication, facilitating participation in classroom activities, and offering attentive guidance throughout the school day. This full-time position runs from August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with weekly hours ranging from 37.5 to 40, and is conveniently based near Leland, NC. Qualifications & Desired Experience Prior experience as a Paraprofessional or in a school-based support setting Specialized training or background working with deaf, blind, or deafblind individuals is highly valued Familiarity with communication support strategies, such as sign language, tactile or visual supports Commitment to fostering student independence, inclusion, and social-emotional development Patience, strong communication skills, and adaptability to changing needs in a classroom environment Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, therapists, families, and other support personnel Key Responsibilities Provide individualized 1:1 daily support to a 4th-grade student with combined hearing and vision needs Facilitate communication and access by interpreting, guiding, and adapting classroom activities Encourage student engagement and participation while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment Assist with mobility, daily routines, and transitions throughout the school day Document progress and collaborate with educational teams to help achieve student goals This role comes with the satisfaction of making a direct impact, and you'll be part of an encouraging environment committed to student growth.
