Exempt Position Overview The Advancement & Development Director is a key leadership role responsible for driving fundraising efforts, building community relationships, and overseeing comprehensive event management to ensure the financial sustainability of Team Summit Colorado. This individual supports the organization's mission by performing all responsibilities to the highest professional standard while exhibiting exemplary ethical and moral values.
Primary Responsibilities Fundraising & Strategic Leadership Strategy Development:
Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and digital fundraising.
Donor Relations:
Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, manage gift processing, and ensure timely, accurate gift acknowledgment and receipt.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals that align with the organization's mission and overall strategic plan.
Data Management:
Oversee database integrity, manage data entry/coding of gifts, and analyze fundraising data to track donor engagement and retention rates.
Team Management:
Supervise the Special Projects and Fundraising Manager, the Community Outreach Manager, and the Media Team, providing guidance, training, and performance monitoring to meet financial goals.
Grant Acquisition and Management Secure Funding:
Identify and pursue diverse grant opportunities from various sources to support organizational needs.
Relationship Stewardship:
Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with foundations and corporate donors to ensure a consistent and reliable stream of funding.
Proposal Development:
Utilize strong written communication and editing skills to craft persuasive grant proposals that align with the mission of Team Summit Colorado.
Compliance and Reporting:
Manage the ongoing requirements of awarded grants, including tracking progress and developing accurate reports for stakeholders.
Events & Operations Management Event Oversight:
Direct the planning and execution of major organizational events, including but not limited to the Ski Ball, Ski and Snowboard Swap, ESBM (Eat, Ski & Be Merry), Pancake Breakfast and the Homecoming Event.
Logistics:
Manage the Events Office, Community Outreach & VSF (Volunteer Service Fee for membership)
Volunteer Coordination:
Manage recruitment, mobilize, and retain volunteers to support events and various organizational initiatives.
Marketing & Communications Media Strategy:
Create and implement media strategies, including webpages, press releases, social media, and Google ads.
Brand Promotion:
Oversee marketing efforts to engage supporters and promote the organization's impact in the community.
Outreach:
Produce mailing lists for direct mail campaigns, event invitations, and stewardship outreach.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in marketing and nonprofit fundraising, including experience with major gifts, grants, and special events.
Communication:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to edit and communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Technical Proficiency:
Professional experience with Google Suite, fundraising software, and donor databases (e.g., analyzing and interpreting data).
Organizational Skills:
Highly organized, detail-oriented planner with project management experience.
Certifications:
Ability to acquire or maintain a US Ski & Snowboard Competition Official Certification.
Personal Attributes:
Deep commitment to the mission and values of Team Summit Colorado. High level of personal integrity and ethical conduct. Adaptable and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Available to work weekends
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$60k-$70k DOE - Competitive annual salary based on experience, with performance-based bonuses.
