Job Description

Bloc Resources is seeking a highly motivated and field-driven Tech Field Geologist 2 (TFG2) to support environmental, geotechnical, and geological field investigations across the southeastern United States. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on field experience in soil and rock logging, groundwater monitoring, and drilling oversight. The Tech Field Geologist 2 will play a critical role in executing field programs, ensuring data accuracy, managing contractors, and supporting environmental compliance initiatives. This position requires extensive travel, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in dynamic outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Oversight Provide field oversight for: Monitoring well installation programs Foundation investigations Contamination assessments Geologic site characterizations Perform soil and rock logging during drilling operations Oversee drilling contractors and ensure adherence to company standards and safety protocols Support environmental and geotechnical field investigations across multiple sites Data Collection & Reporting Prepare detailed and professional logs for: Soil and rock samples Monitoring well construction data Install and maintain groundwater monitoring and water quality equipment Collect, manage, and interpret field data for reporting and analysis Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all field documentation Environmental Sampling & Compliance Conduct environmental sampling and testing in accordance with regulatory standards Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations Ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements during all field activities Team Collaboration & Coordination Interface with internal geologists, land teams, and project stakeholders Coordinate with contractors and field crews to ensure project timelines are met Assist project teams in executing efficient and cost-effective field operations Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams Safety & Field Readiness Promote and maintain a safety-first mindset in all field activities Perform manual labor as needed to support drilling and field operations Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field (preferred) 5-10 years of experience in environmental, geological, engineering, or construction fieldwork Proven experience supporting field investigations and drilling operations Required Skills and Abilities Strong experience with soil and rock logging Knowledge of monitoring well construction and groundwater monitoring Experience with environmental sampling and testing methods Ability to manage contractors and field operations independently Strong attention to detail and data accuracy Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work with minimal supervision in remote field environments Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Customer-focused mindset Technical Skills & Competencies Working knowledge of gINT BoreDM Boring Log Program (preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Familiarity with environmental data collection tools and reporting systems General understanding of regulatory compliance standards Work Environment & Schedule 100% travel role - extensive overnight travel required weekly Primary travel across the southeastern U.S. (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi) Typical schedule: 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday) 10-hour workdays Occasional extended (10-day) work rotations Outdoor field environment with varying weather and site conditions Transportation & Travel Support Agency must provide a work vehicle (Ford F-250 4x4 or similar) Vehicle rental cost reimbursed (no markup permitted) Fuel costs fully reimbursed Lodging and meals reimbursed for all work-related travel and overnight stays Physical Requirements Ability to perform manual labor in support of drilling and field operations Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment as needed Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions Ability to stand, walk, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods
