Job Description
The Purple Rose Theatre Company (PRTC) is a nationally acclaimed professional regional theatre founded by Jeff Daniels; a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. This role will be a contracted 16 month full-time Technical Production Manager. This position falls directly under the supervision and responsibility of the Artistic Directing Team. The
PRTC TPM
commits to working closely with the Artistic Director, Artistic Associates, Production Associates, Managing Director, Designers, and Stage Managers to further PRTC's mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This position is primarily scenic engineering and construction. The candidate will serve as the Technical Director and primary builder on four productions for The Purple Rose Theatre season.Other TPM responsibilities include:
oversee production lighting, audio, and video management. Scope and Responsibilities Ensure all technical aspects of production are completed within budget and schedule. Oversee Production Associate (PA) staff of four (4). Attend all design and production meetings. Schedule and/or Run all Production Associate work calls. Schedule Production Associate swing coverage for show runs. Oversee all production budgets Maintain the theater's production network and associated equipment Maintain, or direct the maintenance of, all production equipment Collaborate with the Properties manager/ handyperson on scheduled building cleaning, maintenance and storage. Assist with Purple Rose annual fundraiser(s). Assist with Jeff Daniels Onstage & Unplugged fundraising events at the Theatre (primarily audio). Create a season calendar in collaboration with the Managing Director, Artistic Director, and Director of Donor Engagement. Implement and monitor safety protocols, procedures, and training programs for routine stage operations as well as specific operations related to performance. Schedule maintenance for the company van. Maintain, and direct the maintenance of, the scene shop, 1st floor storage area, consumables storage. Essential Functions/Physical Demands/proficiencies Excellent carpentry skills Demonstrate independence, integrity and strong communication skills Able to climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs. Remain in a stationary position for periods of time Frequently move throughout the building to access equipment.
