Job Description:
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, a member of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is conducting a search for a part-time Technical Specialist (VA Certification). This position provides specialized customer service to members of the various branches of military service, Veterans, and their eligible dependents; relates relevant and accurate information in person, electronically, and by telephone for all inquiries. Provides current and accurate information to students and staff related to G.I. Bill benefits and appropriate financial aid programs; assists students in the application process for benefits and completion of eligibility requirements. Successful candidate will have basic knowledge of financial practices and reporting, word processing, spreadsheet, and software programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook), ability to create and maintain spreadsheets. Ability to communicate clearly in writing, verbally, in-person and over the telephone with staff, students, parents, and the public and to be customer-service oriented. Ability to conduct presentations to both small and large groups and interact effectively with on and off-campus contacts.
Requirements:
Required:
Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred:
Prior military service and experience working in higher education desired. Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
Additional Information:
28 hours/week $19/hr.
