Job Description
At Midwest Wheel, quality isn't just a goal—it's the standard. We're seeking detail-driven Technicians who take pride in craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency—and who appreciate a 4-day workweek that offers built-in work-life balance. Hours Monday-Thursday are 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Technicians perform tasks in one or more specialized areas of production including riveter operation, boxing and packing, washer operation, inverted de-liner operation and painting and blasting. Each technician will maintain high standards for quality, safety and efficiency in line with Midwest Wheel's specifications and expectations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
All technicians are responsible for the following core duties:- Technical Expertise o Identify and differentiate multiple styles of brake shoes, ensuring correct processing.
Specialized Area tasks:
- Riveter Operator o Installs brake linings according to specifications. o Operates and maintains rivet machinery, including routine cleaning. o Packs and secures brake shoes and kits in boxes, stacking and wrapping them on pallets or in crates for transport.
- Boxing and packing o Labels boxes accurately with correct product information. o Conducts final quality inspections of brake shoes before boxing. o Packs and secures brake shoes and kits in boxes, stacking and wrapping them on pallets or in crates for transport.
- Washer Operator o Sorts brake shoes by style, removing all hardware with de-pinning and de-roller equipment. o Loads washer safely and maintains water and soap levels for optimal cleaning. o Empties washer debris tray regularly and removes old labels or stickers from shoes. o Gauges brake shoes for wear; identifies and segregates defective shoes.
- Inverted De-liner Operator (MDR) o Removes rivets using a manual de-riveter or single rivet punch device. o Inspects brake shoes for defects and removes defective shoes from the line. o Performs regular maintenance and safe operation of de-liner equipment.
- Painting and blasting o Operates tumble blaster and other power tools safely, inspecting brake shoes for any visible damage.
Technical Skills:
Machinery Proficiency:
Ability to operate and maintain machinery such as riveters, washers and blasters.- Certification or ability to safely operate a forklift for material movement.
- Strong attention to detail for identifying product defects and ensuring quality standards.
- Ensures all work adheres to quality and safety standards.
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Works collaboratively to maintain workflow and safety standards.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular use of hands to handle or feel objects, reach with arms and perform tasks requiring talking and hearing.
- Standing for extended periods of time in a loud production environment.
- Exposure to ongoing loud noises
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent quality and accuracy.
