ABOUT Hermosa Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation's clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come. ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Specialist, the Quality Assurance Technician supports the management of construction quality assurance and quality control activities for the Shafts and Concentrator projects. Responsibilities include support of management of multiple contractors and subcontractors including health, safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, community relations and meeting targets within budget and on time. This role requires consistent field interaction and interface with integrated construction teams. This role is based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona. Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Ensure that work is always executed in a safe manner Assist in completion of South32 corporate safety and business goals Ensure that project construction activities and services are executed in conformity with South32's community relations, environmental policies and plans Ensure strict compliance with South32 Change Management processes Extract data from sources such as plans, engineering reports, and specifications to inspect and report on the work of construction contractors and vendor supplied materials Inspect and verify Contractor's and Vendor's work and materials for defects Write and maintain accurate reports and documentation of field activities Identify contractor quality issues and work with Quality Specialist to resolve issues Ensure compliance within scope of applicable regulatory requirements including Federal, State, and Local Ensure conformity with industry codes of practice and standards Perform other Quality Assurance duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Specialist

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Ability to drive company vehicle and be covered under company insurance Trade qualifications or certifications (preferred) Prior experience with large-scale mining/construction projects as related to Quality Assurance and Quality Control (preferred) Understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control management concepts and best practices Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D designs, and specifications for the work being performed Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Strong English language written and oral communication skills Relationship building, team building, interaction skills Experience working in a cross-cultural setting Proven track record maintaining a safe work culture Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
