This opportunity is part of The Hartford's Personal Insurance Reserving team. The role is focused on reserving and trend analysis, primarily supporting The Hartford's $1.25B Homeowners book, with additional exposure to Auto Liability and Physical Damage. Reserving insights directly influence the company's financial results and play a critical role in how our business is priced and managed. The student will collaborate with cross-functional partners and present analyses to leaders across Reserving, Product, and Claims. Personal Insurance is a fast-paced and competitive environment with rich data and constant change, offering strong opportunities to develop analytical skills, synthesize insights, and drive meaningful business impact.
Responsibilities:
+ Pricing support for PI Home rate indications that project rate needed to achieve a 15% return on equity. This involves conducting comprehensive analyses using both internal and external data sources, including evaluating loss development factors, forecasting loss and premium trends, and assessing current and projected expense ratios, among other key elements. + Additional support for Trend analysis to inform business decisions across multiple teams within Personal Insurance. + Understanding of modeling done by ERM for CATs and Risk and Profitability for BMP to use results in indications work noted above. + Develop and analyze internal and external monitoring reports serving as leading indicators to possible changes in rate indications. + For the above work, present findings and recommendations to teammates and business partners to guide future decisions. Experience & Skills + Bachelor's Degree required. +
AD & Associate Actuary Role:
6-7 actuarial exams, 4+ years of experience, could be an Associate + Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex issues. + Strong Excel skills required. Knowledge of
