Job Description

Resp & Qualifications PURPOSE:
The Actuarial Consultant will be primarily responsible for serving as the technical expert and SME for medium to complex projects. Working collaboratively with Actuarial leadership, assists with the development of strategies and processes that ensure efficient, compliant, and error-free implementation toward the goals of meeting departmental objectives. Performs advanced actuarial and oversight skills in the performance of assigned duties and analytics to develop actionable items.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as internal consultant and SME for assigned markets. Lead and manage moderate to complex analyses working collaboratively with leadership and assigned groups. Develop plans for execution of mid-size engagements. Develop and analyze actuarial and related items and data relating to pricing, experience analysis, or product development. Develop and recommend actuarial assumptions and methods. Monitor and revise existing analytical procedures. Prepare actuarial justification and communications as appropriate. Research, develop and validate methodologies to identify areas of actuarial opportunity. Assist in the development of departmental policies and SOPs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Required:
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
Experience:
4 years progressively responsible actuarial experience in health care. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Ability to organize to task completion, plan and prioritize work. Must demonstrate flexibility, innovation and problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. Ability to express technical and financial analysis in a clear, concise manner on both written and oral form. Must possess negotiating and consulting skills. Possesses highly developed analytical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Effectively convey actuarial and/or underwriting issues to a diverse audience. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Salary Range:
$98,712 - $196,053 Salary Range Disclaimer The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the work is being performed. This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.
