Job Description

Senior Consulting Actuary A consulting firm is seeking a Senior Consulting Actuary to support and advise multiemployer pension plan clients. This role combines high-level technical actuarial work with client-facing leadership responsibilities. Position Overview This Los Angeles-based role follows a hybrid work model, with a combination of in-office and remote work. The Senior Consulting Actuary will lead client engagements, manage complex actuarial projects, and provide strategic guidance to multiemployer pension plans. The position also involves mentoring junior team members and contributing to broader practice initiatives. Key Responsibilities Serve as lead actuary for multiemployer pension plan clients, providing strategic advice and maintaining strong client relationships Interpret and apply regulatory requirements while coordinating with external stakeholders such as legal counsel, administrators, and investment professionals Oversee preparation and review of actuarial valuations, projections, withdrawal liability calculations, and other core deliverables Lead specialized projects including plan design analysis, experience studies, and plan transitions Manage workflow across project teams and support development of junior staff Contribute to internal initiatives and support business development efforts as needed Qualifications Enrolled Actuary (EA) required; ASA or FSA preferred 10- 15+ years of actuarial experience, including work with multiemployer pension plans Demonstrated experience leading client relationships and managing teams Strong understanding of regulatory and funding considerations for multiemployer plans Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to plan trustees or similar governing bodies Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, client-facing environment
