Actuary IV (Life Actuary) This position performs advanced (senior-level) actuarial work to support strategic objectives. Work involves performing actuarial analysis and examination of reserves and other actuarial matters. May supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Duties This position:
Participates in the actuarial portion of comprehensive financial examinations of life insurance companies and other related entities and prepare examination reports and workpapers. Performs reviews of actuarial opinions, supporting actuarial reports, and other related actuarial analysis. Performs actuarial analysis of specific transactions and agreements as needed to determine actuarial appropriateness, compliance with requirements, and appropriate financial statement presentation. Reviews workpapers and reports prepared by others.
Provides feedback, support, and technical assistance to others as applicable. Completes relevant continuing education, including meeting the minimum requirement to maintain actuarial credentials.
Participates in special projects as assigned such as assisting with development of rules, legislation, actuarial guidelines, and Valuation Manual requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications This position requires:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with a major in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or related field. A minimum of four (4) years of relevant actuarial work. Regular work attendance. Travel may be required for up to 25% of the time.
If travel is 10% or more, you must maintain a state of Texas Driver¿s License.

Education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basisMust be eligible for the bond-related provisions of Insurance Code Section 401.106 and take the oath required by Insurance Code Section 401.105. Registration, license, or certification required:
Associate or Fellow with the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries in good standing including maintaining required continuing education credits.

Operating a motor vehicle in a safe and courteous manner in compliance with traffic laws. Interpreting insurance laws, regulations, requirements, and actuarial guidelines. Effectively applying actuarial principles, techniques, and insights. Developing, maintaining, and applying actuarial methods and formulas.
