The Director of Business Analytics is responsible for leading the analytics and reporting strategy that supports financial performance, medical cost optimization, and operational effectiveness of the health plan. This role partners closely with Finance, IT, Medical Management, Operations, and Provider Contracting to deliver insights that drive decision-making in a managed care environment. The director oversees analytics staff and in conjunction with IT develops advanced reporting frameworks and ensures the accuracy and integrity of health plan data. This team is responsible for the analytical support of all business units including but not limited to: Medical Affairs, Finance, Provider Network Management, Claims, Enrollee Services, etc. The Director, Business Analytics will report to the Chief Operating Officer. Qualifications Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED (Required) Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, data science, health administration or related field. (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience 5 years Health Plan Operations experience working for a Medicaid, Medicare Advantage or ACA marketplace health plan (Required) 5 years Managed care finance including PMPM medical cost modeling, medical loss ratio, risk adjustment methodologies, capitation and value-based payment structures (Required) 3 years Project Management experience (Preferred) 3 years Analytics, forecasting and modeling experience (Required) 3 years Supervisory or people management experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Possess a high degree of operational knowledge as it relates to all facets of Managed Care Health Plan Operations and administration. Experience with population health data, health insurance claims structure and analytics, including
GPRO/HEDIS
Quality measures, risk adjustment methodologies, the efficiency of care, utilization metrics, clinical quality measures, claims analysis, etc. Working knowledge of finance, accounting, financial models, healthcare data, market, and competitive analysis techniques. Demonstrated ability to find opportunities for efficiency and implement improvements. Experience with department budgeting, financial reporting, and budget review Plan, develop, and prepare complex reimbursement models, including but not limited to value-based payment and reimbursement, population health management, risk, and capitation to determine payor contract proposed terms. Strong business analytical skills Review and analyze statistical, cost, and financial reports for complex payor contracts. Manage and monitor finance activities related to Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Children's and the related division of responsibilities. Ability to develop and clearly document business requirements Strong process analysis and documentation Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present actionable insights Attentive to detail, highly organized, and able to multi-task with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently Ability to effectively gather data from various sources for reporting, and presentation Ability to effectively utilize data and system tools available Strong demonstrated analytical skills applied to business software solutions maintenance and/or development Knowledge of the software implementation standards and practices Complex problem solving and people management skills Advanced proficiency with SQL, Excel and Microsoft Applications Experience presenting technical data and information to non-technical users.
