Are you a creative thinker? A sharp business consultant? An entrepreneur who's built something real? And do you know AI well enough to teach it? Can you tell a business what an AI project will really cost, down to the tokens, compute, and people, before they commit to it? We're not looking for people who can only show others how to prompt. We need people who can walk into a business, see where it's losing time and money, imagine a better way to work, and then teach the team to make it happen with AI, safely and with measurable results. If that sounds like you, keep reading. About the role Rancho Santiago Community College District is hiring AI Trainers/Instructors to deliver in-person training to organizations across Orange County and Los Angeles County. You'll be part of one of the most important workforce upskilling efforts happening right now. Our approach Business acumen comes first: where AI creates real value and how to prove it.
Creative acumen comes next:
rethinking how work gets done. AI skills come last, built on guardrails and designed to scale. Every training should leave an organization with something it can actually deploy. What you'll teach
- True cost of AI projects: how token pricing works, how usage scales with users and volume, compute and API costs, subscription versus usage-based pricing, and hidden costs like integration, maintenance, and staff time. Participants should leave able to build a realistic budget and spot a project that won't pay for itself.
- ROI training: choosing the right use cases, setting baselines, tracking savings against total cost, and presenting results leadership will trust.
- Security and guardrails: protecting sensitive data, understanding where data goes and how vendors use it, access controls, prompt injection and other AI-specific risks, compliance requirements, human review, and practical AI use policies.
- Choosing the right tools and models: matching the model to the task, weighing cost against performance, and avoiding overspending on capability a team doesn't need.
- Deployable solutions: workflows, automations, and custom assistants that teams can use the next day.
- Scalable adoption: repeatable playbooks, internal champions, and cost and security controls that hold up as usage grows across the organization. Responsibilities
- Deliver General AI Training, individual AI courses, and customized training, including automation and AI coding.
- Assess teams and individuals to tailor training to their business goals.
- Help organizations redesign workflows and build adoption that lasts beyond the training.
- Stay current on AI trends, technologies, pricing, and security risks.
- Deliver training at client sites or designated locations.
Qualifications Required:
3+ years running a business or leading a team with P&L or budget responsibility.
- Proven experience in AI training, business consulting, or entrepreneurship.
- Strong business understanding, with the ability to connect AI to revenue, cost, and productivity.
- Ability to estimate and explain the full cost of AI solutions, including token usage, compute, and ongoing operations.
- Working knowledge of AI security risks and data governance.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different learners.
- Experience applying AI in healthcare, manufacturing, and/or hospitality is a plus. Subject matter expertise Prompting is the baseline, not the expertise. Candidates should be able to go well beyond it, in areas such as:
- AI strategy: finding high-value use cases and building the business case.
- Workflow redesign: rebuilding processes around AI, not just adding tools to old habits.
- Automation and agents: multi-step workflows connected to existing business tools, including AI coding tools.
- Evaluating output: spotting errors, bias, and hallucinations, and knowing when not to trust the answer.
- Change management: getting skeptical teams to adopt AI and making it stick.
- Applied business functions: marketing plans, financial analysis, data-driven decisions, website optimization, social media, video and podcast content, and government contract bids. Compensation Project-based, paid per training hour at $95 an hour. Screening questions Please answer these briefly in your cover letter:
- Describe a business problem you solved and its financial impact, in dollars, time saved, or revenue gained.
- Tell us about a time you used AI to improve a business process. What did it cost, and what was the return?
- Have you owned a business or managed a budget or P&L? If so, what size?
- How would you explain the risks of AI to a skeptical business owner?
To apply Submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your qualifications and experience, including your answers to the screening questions. The interview process includes a live AI test where you'll apply AI to a real business problem, including a cost estimate for a sample project.
