I'm the CEO of Nu Image®, and we're opening a new office in New Jersey. I'm looking for an AI Engineering Intern who's obsessed with AI agents, builds stuff constantly, and wants to learn how real, healthcare-grade software gets made. Open to current New Jersey residents only (on-site in Mahwah/Wyckoff, NJ). We are not offering relocation. You'll work directly with our CTO. Not fetching coffee, not watching from the sidelines: you'll ship real code, run AI agents on real tasks, and learn the fundamentals that make you dangerous (in the good way). AI agents do a lot of the typing here, but we'll teach you to own the code, not just prompt it : read it, understand it, debug it, fix it. The thing I care about most: initiative. If you see something broken, fix it. If you have an idea, build a prototype and show us. Don't wait to be told. AI-powered workflows and the agent setups, guardrails and review steps behind them. Secure, reliable, well-tested code , with healthcare-grade privacy and security baked in. What you'll learn How a real healthcare-grade platform gets built, secured, tested and shipped. PHP, Laravel and SQL from the ground up (if you don't know them yet, that's fine). How to run AI agents on real work, and how to review, test and fix what they produce. Debugging, code review and the fundamentals that make you a strong engineer with or without AI. How to take an idea from whiteboard to shipped. Strong performers can earn a full-time role. Who this is for You're a current student (college, grad school, bootcamp, or similar program) or an early-career builder: you've recently completed a degree, bootcamp or certificate program, or you're self-taught or changing careers into software. What matters is what you build, not your résumé template. Must-haves You use AI coding agents daily: Cursor, Grok / Grok Bot, or similar tools. You've built and shipped something (an app, a tool, a bot, a hackathon project) and can show it on GitHub or a project link. Solid programming fundamentals in at least one language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Java, Go… any of them). You're eager to learn PHP, Laravel and SQL. Initiative. You find things to build and fix without waiting to be told. You currently live in New Jersey, within a reasonable commute of Mahwah / Wyckoff, and can work on-site. We are not offering relocation or relocation assistance. Nice-to-haves Laravel or PHP. Vue. SQL. Hackathons (bonus points if you built with agents). Open-source contributions. You've built MCP servers, agent tools, or custom agent integrations.
