Job Description

Overview:
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced AI Engineer/AI Developer to join our team. This role will work directly alongside the AI & Digital Innovation Lead to develop practical AI solutions that with our custom ERP and manufacturing workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate directly with the AI & Digital Innovation lead on AI and software initiatives
  • Develop and maintain AI-powered internal applications and services
  • Build APIs, backend services, and integrations that support AI workflows
  • Assist in developing projects involving: o Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) o AI agents and workflow automation o Intelligent document processing o ERP data integrations o AI-assisted reporting and operations dashboards o OCR and invoice/receiver matching systems o Internal AI assistants and knowledge systems
  • Help organize, structure, and optimize operation data for AI usage
  • Assist with improving and automating business processes using
AI Technologies Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Some professional, academic, or project-based experience building AI/ML or intelligent software systems
  • Strong programming experience with Python and backend development concepts
  • Familiarity with modern AI concepts such as: o LLMs o RAG systems o Embedding/vector search o AI Workflow automation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving development environment Preferred
  • Experience with AI framework or tools such as: o Ollama o LangChain o OpenAI APIs o FastAPI o Pytorch or TensorFlow
  • Familiarity with Linux, Docker, or GPU-based systems
  • Experience with SQL databases and API development
  • Exposure to ERP systems, manufacturing systems, automation, or operational software is a plus.
Supervisor Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include/hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the person in this position might remain stationary for long periods of time, while operating a computer and other office machinery. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery. The employee might occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. On occasion, the employee may be required to visit the shop that is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel:
Travel is not required for this position.
