Job Description
The AI Productivity Engineer is the first point of contact and support for AI tools we deploy and the people who use them. They will be our AI SME and know what's changing in the industry and be the primary point of contact for teams across our organization. This is a high-visibility role with a broad mandate. This role is a unique hybrid of product ownership, technical execution, and organizational enablement. The individual will own and evolve our internal AI tool ecosystem—including copilots, agents, and automation tools—while driving adoption across the business through training, use case development, and hands-on support. This person will also build lightweight integrations and custom solutions to enhance workflows, acting as both a technical SME and internal evangelist to ensure AI delivers measurable productivity gains across teams. What You'll Do Own the AI Product Suite
- Serve as the product owner for internal AI tool stack — from chat assistants and coding copilots to workflow automation and agentic tools.
- Set the roadmap for what gets added, what gets dropped, and how the tools integrate with our existing systems.
- Manage vendor relationships with our AI platform providers — usage, licensing, contracts, feature requests, and escalations.
- Define and track success metrics (adoption, active usage, time saved, satisfaction) and report on them to leadership. Evangelize and Enable
- Act as AI evangelist and drive adoption across the org through demos, office hours, training sessions, internal documentation, and a steady drumbeat of internal communication that turns AI tools into measurable business efficiency gains.
- Build a community of power users and champions in each department who can amplify best practices on your behalf.
- Identify high-value workflows team-by-team and design AI-assisted versions of them — then partner with those teams to roll out solutions that improve productivity, streamline operations, and create business efficiencies with AI tools.
- Create lightweight, brand-aligned content (playbooks, video walkthroughs, prompt libraries) that meets people where they are. Stay Ahead of the Industry
- Track the AI landscape — new models, new tools, new techniques — and translate what matters into clear recommendations.
- Run structured pilots of promising tools, with real success criteria, before recommending any expansion.
- Publish an internal point of view on where AI is heading and what should do about it — quarterly at minimum. What We're Looking For
- Deep, hands-on fluency with modern AI tools — LLMs, agents, copilots, prompt engineering, RAG, MCP, and the broader ecosystem, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio for enterprise productivity, automation, and custom agent experiences.
- Strong technical skills — comfortable writing Python or TypeScript, working with APIs, building simple integrations, and reading documentation faster than most people read email.
- Exceptional communication — you can teach a designer, a buyer, and a CFO the same concept and have all three walk away energized.
- Product instincts — you can take a vague problem, scope it, prioritize it, and ship something useful without being told how.
- A bias for adoption over architecture — you'd rather see ten people using a simple tool than two people admiring a sophisticated one. Nice to Have History in developer advocacy, technical enablement, or internal tools, with familiarity building or supporting solutions in Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.
- Track record of building internal AI programs from scratch at another company.
- Familiarity with our current stack (to be discussed in interviews).
- Medical, dental & vision
- Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital
- 401(k) Retirement Plan - Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available
- Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents)
- Short and long-term disability
- Health Spending Account (HSA)
- Transportation benefits
- Employee Assistance Program
- Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Carlsbad,CA.
