Job Description

Overview Tract Bio, located in The Pearl Innovation District in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our growing team. Tract Bio Therapeutics is a fast- growing startup developing novel small-molecule therapeutics. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects with direct translational impact. Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics data to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets for small-molecule intervention.
  • Lead the analysis of large-scale datasets, specifically focusing on Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), GWAS, ChIP-seq, and ATAC-seq to uncover regulatory mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible pipelines tailored for execution on standalone Linux servers.
  • Administer the company's on-premise multi-server Ubuntu environment, ensuring high availability and security for the R&D team.
  • Partner with chemists and biologists to interpret biological data, guide mechanism-of- action studies, and support decision-making. Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field; OR M.S. with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with WGS, GWAS, ChIP-seq, or ATAC-seq analysis pipelines and biological interpretation.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and R for statistical analysis, algorithm development, and data visualization.
  • Expert-level skills in managing Ubuntu/Debian systems, including setting up and managing secure remote access protocols (VPN, SSH tunneling), monitoring system resources and troubleshooting hardware/OS level issues. Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. with 2+ years of post-graduate industry experience in biotech or pharma.
  • A strong publication record (e.g., 2+ first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals) demonstrating the ability to lead projects and communicate scientific findings.
  • Deep understanding of molecular biology, immunology, or oncology
  • Proficiency with pipeline tools (Nextflow, Snakemake) and version control (Git).
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques or predictive modeling to identify patterns in high-dimensional biological datasets and prioritize therapeutic targets.
Pay:
$110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
