Job Category Staff & Executive - Research (Laboratory/Non-Laboratory) Overview New Jersey's academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University-New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Visiting Researcher for the department of Neurology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Visiting Researcher will work on a project in a laboratory dedicated to studying the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease. The Visiting Researcher will work in a new lab as part of a highly integrated research team utilizing a variety of laboratory technologies, analytic tools and approaches. Appropriate training in all techniques necessary for the project will be provided. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Undertake bioinformatics analyses of imaging, genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics data, as well as statistical analyses of biological data and any other types of analyses that might arise. Most of these will be Python-based, but occasional use of R or other scientific software available in the lab will be essential. Work conductively with other members of the lab and collaborators from within Rutgers and elsewhere. Store data, analyses and code within the lab's shared folders and GitHub repository, as directed by the PI. Analyze data, organize them and present them at laboratory meetings and scientific meetings. Help prepare manuscripts for publications.

None Minimum Education and Experience Master's degree in bioinformatics or a related field is required. Previous research experience is required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The incumbent must have a genuine interest in research and in the work undertaken in our lab and be committed to improving their research skills and progressively developing research competence. Proficient coding skills in Python plus MATLAB and/or R are essential, as well as experience in analyzing biological imaging data. Basic skills in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to communicate research plans and findings effectively, both verbally and in writing, to research team members and the scientific community through presentations and publications.
