Overview:

Job Description Summary:

Analyzes biological data using computational tools to extract meaningful insights and patterns for research and development purposes.

Essential Functions:

Analyzes biological data to identify patterns and trends. Develops algorithms and computational tools for research and clinical genomics data analysis. Documents processes for future reference and training purposes. Collaborates with biologists and clinicians to implement solutions and interpret results. Maintains and updates databases of biological information. Conducts statistical analyses to draw conclusions from data and large-scale biological datasets. Stays current with advancements in bioinformatics research and technology. Contributes to journal publications and scientific conference presentations. Provides mentoring and support to less experienced programmers.

Education Requirement:

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, Genetics, or related field, required.

Skills:

Must have significant computational and biological understanding. Must have the verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with developers, scientists, and clinicians. Analytical skills and the ability to transcribe biological questions to code as well as the ability to translate research pipelines to clinical applications.

Experience:

Post-doc or 3 years of experience practicing bioinformatics in a research or clinical setting, required. Experience in bioinformatics, required. Experience in human genetics, preferred. Experience in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, preferred.
