Biostatistician or Senior Biostatistician, Public Health Sciences The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia remote work United States, Virginia, Charlottesville 1215 Lee Street (Show on map) Apr 23, 2026 The Department of Public Health Sciences is currently seeking a Biostatistician/ Senior Biostatistician. Level will be determined by qualifications. The incumbent collaborates with research faculty members in the Division of Biostatistics, as well as other investigators in the School of Medicine, on multiple clinical and biomedical research projects. The Biostatistician designs and performs reproducible statistical analyses, writes technical reports and interprets study results. The incumbent collaborates and supports research projects, providing status reports, and research publication and grant proposal support. Senior Biostatisticians collaborate with biomedical researchers in designing and implementing research projects and publishing results. They write statistical design, methods, and analysis for research proposals. They collaborate with biomedical investigators to develop objectives and design sampling, randomization, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives. They assume lead roles in research projects by serving on committees, supervising project personnel, coordinating quality control efforts, and serving on writing teams. Senior biostatisticians may supervise junior professionals and other staff. Responsibilities Write statistical computer programs Review computer output for consistency and quality Analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports Design tables and statistical procedures for specific research studies Write results sections of reports and publications Develop statistical designs and planned analyses for research grant proposals Develop and implement new innovative procedures in the areas of data collection, quality control, presentation of results, and statistical analyses Lead biostatistical collaborations with clinical research teams In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned Minimum Qualifications for

Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field by appointment start date
Experience:

Experience:
Five years of related experience, including professional biostatistical collaborative experiences Preferred Qualifications Programming experience in R, SAS/Stata, and REDCap Experience with Snowflake, OMOP, Claims data, Python, LaTeX and/or Markdown Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site for the first 6 months, after which the position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines.
