Located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Baylor College of Medicine stands out as a leading academic health science institution, renowned for its excellence in education, research, healthcare, and community service. Job Duties Data Interpretation:
Efficiently process and analyze diverse biological datasets, deriving actionable insights to support our research initiatives.
Software Development:
Design, implement, and maintain bioinformatics software tools and pipelines, ensuring optimized performance and accuracy.
Collaborative Analysis:
Work closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and other researchers to address complex scientific questions.
Stay Updated:
Regularly review recent scientific literature, integrating new methodologies, tools, and technologies into our analytical processes.
Communication:
Present findings clearly and concisely to specialist and non-specialist researchers and author/co-author scientific papers. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. No experience required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and/or R. Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash. Minimum of 2 years of research or working experience in a computational field, preferably with a focus on genomics. Proven experience in statistical analysis and machine learning applications. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven track record of contributing to interdisciplinary projects. Expertise with high-performance computing, cloud-based platforms, docker, and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
