Job Description
Job Summary The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for architecting, managing, and optimizing the college's data ecosystem using Oracle PL/SQL and Ellucian Banner, with a focus on the acquisition, transformation, integration, and security of institutional data. This role incorporates a strategic research component by conducting analytical modeling and specialized studies across a wide range of institutional areas to support data-informed decision-making. The analyst also designs, develops, and maintains interactive dashboards that translate complex data structures into clear, actionable insights to improve operational effectiveness. The position requires strong proficiency in PL/SQL; familiarity with tools and languages such as M, R, Python, Power Query, and DAX; experience working within the Ellucian Banner environment; and a solid understanding of business intelligence architecture and platforms, including Power BI or Tableau, along with demonstrated skill in dashboard design and data visualization best practices. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Perform complex comparative analytical studies on intra- and inter-college issues. Design or assist in designing research methodologies; collect and organize data; conduct statistical analyses; interpret results; and prepare technical reports. Analyze current process standards, metrics, and workflows to recommend improvements. Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to develop process improvement reports, outlining progress, adverse trends, recommendations, and conclusions. Collect, analyze, validate, and communicate institutional data to stakeholders and constituents. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders and respond to complex internal data requests supporting planning, evaluation, operational improvements, predictive analytics, and decision making. Design, build, or oversee development of reporting systems, dashboards, analytical tools, data cubes, OLAP reporting, and other integrations. Apply statistical and analytical tools to organizational data and deliver meaningful interpretations to relevant teams. Coordinate dissemination of student and institutional performance information to committees, leadership, and departments, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and consistency. Design, develop, implement, and supervise processes to acquire, transform, and load data from ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/Banner) and third-party platforms. Identify end-user training needs and develop training plans accordingly. Conduct descriptive studies on faculty, students, staff, and instructional processes. Assist in institutional policy development and long-range planning studies. Perform other duties as assigned.
