Business Intelligence Summer Intern

The Washington Commanders are seeking a talented Business Intelligence Summer Intern to join the Business Intelligence team. This person will play a critical role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization by assisting with reporting, analysis, and dashboard development. This individual will be detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and able to manage multiple analytical tasks while supporting the day-to-day operations within the strategy & analytics function. This role reports to the Head of Strategy & Analytics.

Internship Hours:

40 hours per week + additional hours as necessary

Role Responsibilities:

Support the development and execution of business intelligence reporting, including maintaining dashboards and tracking key performance indicators across business units. Assist with data collection, cleaning, and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency across reporting systems. Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to support organizational decision-making. Analyze data related to ticket sales, fan engagement, marketing campaigns, sponsorship performance, and operational metrics. Partner with internal stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into data-driven insights. Assist with preparing weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports for leadership and cross-functional teams. Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within datasets and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Support data workflows and documentation, including data definitions, report specifications, and process improvements. Conduct research and benchmarking on industry trends, fan behavior, and sports business analytics. Perform other duties as assigned. Key Skills/Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis techniques). Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) Basic knowledge of SQL; experience with Python or R is a plus Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence tools, including Claude Code Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Ability to handle confidential and proprietary data with professionalism.
