Job Description:
This position supports institutional planning, effectiveness, and strategic decision-making by collecting, preparing, and analyzing data from institutional and external sources. This role develops and maintains queries, scripts, and database structures used to generate reports, ensure data quality, and support internal analytics and external reporting requirements. This position will be responsible for producing routine and ad hoc reports, interpreting complex data, and communicates insights through clear visualizations, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities also include maintaining documentation for analytical processes, identifying and resolving data integrity issues, and continuously enhancing technical and professional expertise to support the evolving needs of institutional research.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in information technology, computer science, business, statistics, data science/analytics or closely related field with a strong quantitative and technical focus. Demonstrated ability to write and interpret SQL queries, perform systems analysis, and work with and design relational databases. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly through written visual, and verbal formats. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
Communication and other skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment across various functional areas of a complex organization. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and shift tasks in response to changing deadlines and organizational needs. Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in business intelligence, data science is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and visualization software, with PowerBI, Tableau, R, Python, Toad, and SQL Developer preferred. Other programming languages and applications a plus. Experience with Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning system preferred. Experience working in higher education preferred.
